Yesterday, we welcomed the 10 newest KAS scholars in Albania through a movie night followed by a discussion.
We screened the movie The Death of Stalin, a satirical historical film that conveys strong messages about power, fear, and the mechanisms of authoritarian regimes through dark comedy.
We discussed how cinema and other non traditional formats can serve as more effective tools for communicating the past to younger generations.
Reflections on totalitarianism are not relevant only to the past. They remain essential in today’s context, in order to resist new forms of authoritarianism emerging across societies.
