The Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, was one of the darkest days in the history of the State of Israel. Since the Holocaust, never before have so many Jews been murdered in a single day.
During the attack, many victims and survivors stayed in contact with relatives and friends via WhatsApp. They warned of the danger, shared their fears and emotions - often in the final moments of their lives. These chat transcripts are unique historical documents. They provide an immediate insight into the events of October 7, 2023, and into the emotional world of those affected.
The organization 710 Memorial and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Israel have collected and preserved these chat transcripts and made them publicly available on the 710 Memorial website in Hebrew, English, and German. Each message tells a personal story. Our mission is to make these stories visible, to preserve the memory, and to bring the individual fates of October 7, 2023, into public awareness.
