Recognizing the need for wider informations regarding citizen’s perception related to religion, religiosity, religious affiliation and state relations with religious institutions in 2016 the project “Macedonia as a multiconfessional society”, today “Republic of North Macedonia as a multiconfessional society” started with its implementation, aimed to form a basic picture of the public and the public opinion primarily about religious tolerance and coexistence. As the project grew, so did the interest and the need for sporadic research, which in one way or another are addressing or are intertwined in the relation religion-religious institutions-believers-society-state.

All the surveys lead to a single goal and it is related to the concept of a multireligious state. That concept which is in many ways appropriate for the Macedonian circumstances, given the fact that multiconfessionality from both historical and contemporary perspective is an important characteristic of Macedonian society that influences the processes and shapes the development of the country. If properly implemented, the concept of a multi-religious state can be a significant cohesive force among citizens of different religions, but in the event of misimplementation, or abuse and segmentation of society on a religious basis, multiconffesionalism can become a source of conflict, even in a society like North Macedonia where there is a long tradition of coexistence between many religions.

This book contains five new surveys, which in addition with the first five surveys from the first book, provide a basic database that can serve as an informative and orienting element for scientific research, analysis, but also as a kind of orientation line for the religious communities in terms of creating and implementing their policies in relation to society and to the believers.

In this analysis we offer the perceptions of the public related to religion, belivers, religious communities and politics, political campaigns, then the same perception but targeted towards the young population in terms R.N. Macedonia euro-integrative process and European values. We have included a specific survey regarding religious moral of young people, as well as the inevitable topis from the pandemic 2020/2021 in which we concentrate on the role of religion and faith in pandemics. It is a unique public opinion survey that detected perceptions at the height of the pandemic.

Considering that the role of some of the religious communities especially the MOC-OA in the Macedonian society, which has its own challenges in the Orthodox world, is essential, in 2020 we conducted the first survey targeting these challenges, and it showed interesting data for analysis.
