Folgen für Jordanien und den Irak

Mit der Einnahme von Damaskus durch Rebellengruppen unter der Führung der islamistischen HTS-Miliz endeten über fünf Jahrzehnte Herrschaft des Assad-Regimes. Amman und Bagdad schauen mit Skepsis auf die neuen Herrscher und sorgen sich um eine Destabilisierung und Fragmentierung Syriens. In Jordanien sieht man darin auch eine Gelegenheit, konstruktive nachbarschaftliche Beziehungen aufzubauen. Im Irak hingegen sitzt das Misstrauen gegen den syrischen Übergangspräsident Ahmed Sharaa tief. Dennoch zeichnet sich ein pragmatischer Ansatz gegenüber den neuen Machthabern ab, der regional und idealerweise auch international eingebettet werden sollte.
