We are proud to support the voices shaping Africa's future, the APRM, with communication and broadcasting equipment to contribute to their communications, critical advocacy and outreach work in line with their Strategic Plan. The equipment was handed over by Dr. Holger Dix, Director of the KAS Regional Programme for Political Dialogue in Sub-Saharan Africa and received by Ambassador Marie Antoinette Rose-Quatre, Chief Executive Officer of the African Peer Review Mechanism Continental Secretariat on Wednesday 03 June 2026 at their offices in Centurion.
The APRM plays a vital role in Africa's democratic development through its rigorous African governance country review process and producing findings that are essential for accountability and reform. This support strengthens the APRM’s communication, advocacy and outreach work through initiatives such as the Africa’s Governance Voices Podcast as well as broader media and broadcasting work. The APRM aims to bridge the gap between African citizens and leaders on key governance issues while also deepening understanding of the continents democratic progress and challenges.
As KAS, we recognise that the effectiveness of democratic institutions is dependent on the quality of their work and their ability to communicate findings across digital spaces in an easily accessible, compelling and wide-reaching manner. In an increasingly digital era, effective communication is a governance imperative and for democracy to function well, institutions must not only do strong work, but they must also be able to convey it to the citizens they serve.
This partnership reflects KAS’s commitment to strengthening African institutions and ensure that those mandated to promote good governance in service of democracy have the platforms and tools to do so effectively. It also reflects a broader conviction that for democracy to take root and endure across Africa, the continent needs strong and well-resourced institutions that can communicate effectively. Governance bodies like the APRM are not peripheral to democracy, they are foundational to it. When they are visible, credible and accessible to ordinary citizens, democratic culture is strengthened. When they are under-resourced or unable to reach their audiences, accountability gaps widen.
We look forward to seeing the APRM's important work reach wider audiences through this contribution to their work.
