The MENA region is increasingly vulnerable to climate change, facing pressing challenges such as water scarcity, rising temperatures, desertification, and the urgent need for energy transition. Effectively addressing these issues requires strong political commitment, comprehensive policies, and enhanced regional cooperation. Parliamentarians are uniquely positioned to influence legislative frameworks, guide climate and energy policy, and foster cross-border collaboration, making their engagement essential for sustainable climate action.
It is within this context that Parliamentarians for Climate (P4C) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) - Regional Program Political Dialogue Southern Mediterranean (PolDiMed) jointly organize this regional conference entitled “Parliamentary Pathways for Climate, Innovation, and Civic Engagement in MENA–Mediterranean Region”: Third Meeting of the MENA Chapter of Parliamentarians for Climate (P4C)", from 6 to 9 February, 2026, at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at the First Residence, Cairo, Egypt.
The conference will gather parliamentarians, experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders from the MENA region, Africa and the European Union to discuss regional climate challenges and explore opportunities for collaborative solutions. The first day will feature expert presentations and thematic discussions on climate security, digital solutions for climate action, and the engagement of youth and civil society in climate governance. The second day will include field visits, providing participants with practical insights into ongoing climate and energy initiatives. This format ensures a balanced approach combining policy dialogue, technical knowledge, and hands-on learning, reinforcing the chapter’s mission to strengthen parliamentary leadership in climate resilience and sustainable development. This third conference builds on the successes of previous regional meetings—held in Rabat, Morocco (February 12–14, 2024), and Istanbul, Turkey (June 22–25, 2025).
P4C is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental international network that brings together current and former Members of Parliaments and Congresses from diverse political backgrounds. The network is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and building climate resilience worldwide. The MENA Chapter of P4C, launched in 2023, provides a dedicated platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and coordinated action among parliamentarians in the region.
Since its launch in 2015, KAS PolDiMed has become a key platform for dialogue on the political, security, economic, and social transformations shaping the Mediterranean. Over the past decade, the program has, through a variety of formats, connected officials, policymakers, academics, business leaders, and young leaders from both shores, fostering shared understanding and practical cooperation on key regional challenges, ranging from governance, regional security and migration to youth participation, climate, employment, and economic reforms.
