Einen Monat vor der Parlamentswahl treffen sich Europas Staats- und Regierungschefs in Armenien zur Tagung der European Political Community, gefolgt vom ersten EU-Armenien-Gipfel

In einer Phase erheblicher geopolitischer Spannungen und nur Wochen vor wegweisenden Parlamentswahlen richtet sich der Blick Europas Anfang Mai 2026 auf Armenien. Innerhalb weniger Tage wird Jerewan zum Schauplatz gleich mehrerer hochrangiger internationaler Formate – dem Treffen der European Political Community (EPC), dem ersten EU-Armenien-Gipfel überhaupt sowie der hochkarätigen Konferenz „Yerevan Dialogue“. Die geballte Präsenz europäischer Regierungschefs, Entscheidungsträger, Diplomaten und internationaler Experten ist mehr als ein protokollarisches Ereignis: Sie ist Ausdruck einer strategischen Neuverortung Armeniens – und unterstreicht Europas Rolle im Südkaukasus.

Russia's Military Foreign Policy in Kenya

A Case Study

The research article examines the March 16, 2026, bilateral agreement between Kenya and Russia that formally prohibits the recruitment of Kenyan nationals into Russian military operations. While official diplomatic discourse between Musalia Mudavadi and Sergey Lavrov emphasizes economic cooperation and a polycentric world order, the article argues that this framing masks a more predatory reality where recruitment networks exploit Kenya’s 67% youth unemployment rate. By luring individuals with fraudulent civilian job offers in hospitality and construction, these networks funnel vulnerable Kenyans into military service to supplement Russia's manpower needs; a strategy linked to the evolution of the ‘Africa Corps’ and a desire to minimize the domestic political costs of mobilization in Russia. Ultimately, the piece concludes that this exploitation poses significant sovereignty and security risks for Kenya, complicating its diplomatic balancing act between Western partnerships and strategic non-alignment while potentially fueling domestic unrest ahead of the 2027 elections.

„Progressives Bulgarien“ erreicht absolute Mehrheit der Sitze

Die politische Landschaft Bulgariens hat nach den Parlamentswahlen am 19. April 2026 einen Umbruch erfahren. Nach Jahren der Instabilität und insgesamt sieben vorgezogenen Neuwahlen seit 2021 hat dieser achte Urnengang die Karten neu gemischt. Es wird im kommenden Parlament eine dominierende Kraft geben: Die neue Allianz „Progressives Bulgarien“ (PB) des im Januar 2026 zurückgetretenen Ex-Staatspräsidenten Rumen Radew, die 44,6% der Stimmen und die absolute Mehrheit der Sitze im Parlament gewann. Das zentrale Thema der PB-Wahlkampagne war die Bekämpfung von Korruption und „Oligarchie“, alle anderen Themen waren nachrangig und stießen auf wenig Resonanz. Der Wahlkampf verlief weitgehend emotionslos, in der Öffentlichkeit kam keine Begeisterung auf. Die Wahlbeteiligung lag höher als in vergangenen Jahren, blieb aber mit 51,1% noch immer auf niedrigem Niveau.
