STABILITY CULTURES AND THE EUROPEAN INTEGRATION
Fachkonferenz
Details
Sound public finance and manageable sovereign debt is a key pillar for the future stability of the common European currency and essential to rebuild trust in the European Union.
The reforms since the sovereign debt crisis of 2010 showed up a significant effort of the European Union and the member states, not only to cope with the consequences of the crisis, but to establish new common and coordinated instruments to reduce the risks for upcoming economic downturns. Nevertheless, there are significantly different approaches to deal with a fiscal crisis in different member states.
Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Polish Institute of International Affairs therefore analyse in a common research project different perspectives of fiscal policies in Germany, France and Poland. These countries represented member states and non-member states of the Eurozone as well as new and old member states of the EU. Last but not least, they as well represent different economic traditions and cultures.
In our expert conference, we would like to discuss with you the results of the project and to reflect on possible and feasible political consequences. We will bring together representatives of politics, academics, Think Tanks and associations and are looking forward to a fruitful exchange with you.
