The chapters are written by local party experts. The authors describe the development of parties and party systems. Moreover, they point to organizational characteristics and problems of parties and party democracy. After a comparative analysis by the research group “Governance” at the University of Duisburg-Essen, headed by Prof. Dr. Dr. Karl-Rudolf Korte, the KAS-Democracy Report 2007 gives an overview about the global activities in party cooperation of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
