After finishing their studies, they are expected to actively promote the relationship between India and the Federal Republic of Germany.

Formal Requirements

  • The scholarship will apply for a minimum of 3 semesters and only be granted to students of higher education (Master or Doctoral degree). We do not support students who have already obtained a PhD degree and are going in for a second one.
  • Medical students should have passed the German intermediate examination (“Physikum”) or an international equivalent. Pharmaceutical students should have completed the German first pharmaceutical examination or an international equivalent. We do not support medical specialization trainings or research stays of postgraduates.
  • At the time of the applying, students shouldn’t be older than 30 years. We expect our applicants to have good basic knowledge of the German language, even if the course is being taught in English. If students wish to obtain a Master or Doctoral degree taught in German, they are required to prove their German skills on the level B2 (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) or higher. In very particular cases in which the rest of the qualifications are outstanding, B1 can be accepted. Many Scholarships holders complete the DSH (German language test for assuming higher education studies) or pass the Test-DAF (German as foreign language) with a considerable high score before assuming their studies. If a student wishes to improve his/her German skills, we gladly subsidise language courses at Goethe Institute.
