With a population of about 615 million people, the majority of which living in cities, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) increasingly try to engage in global environmental issues, particularly with regards to the challenge of climate change. 2014 presents a unique opportunity to reposition the region on the international agenda of environmental issues since Peru will host in December, the 20th Conference of Parties to the UN Convention on Climate Change.
