Effective Smart Security in Iraq
The Iraqi state is still facing traditional and non-traditional security challenges from political, economic, social and other reasons, all of which led to the disruption of the Iraqi national security with its various branches, including the smart security systems, where the spread of terrorist groups almost threatened the state's existence in Iraq. With all these serious challenges, there is no comprehensive strategy for smart security with progressive goals that would contribute to directing the performance compass to ensure a safe security environment.
AL-Furat Center began with approaching security agencies and institutions, experts and researchers, from inside and outside Iraq, to select those willing to effectively and efficiently contribute to this project. A preliminary meeting was held to explore the views of the selected stakeholders on the matter of Iraqi national security's strategy, and formulate a preliminary vision on the mechanisms of its implementation and the nature of the task.
The outcomes of this measure were several, starting with a committed security team that was formed to collectively reflect on the National Security Strategy for 2020-2030, as well as to consult, monitor and follow-up on its implementation in the future. Moreover, the preliminary vision of Iraq's national security strategy discussed help activate the team of selected experts and define the expertise of each. A draft for the National Security Strategy was prepared by the staff assigned to this task. It is expected that its implementation and commitment will contribute to ensuring a capable security environment with a coherent institutional security framework that guarantees the rights of individuals and institutions to lead to the promotion of general stability in Iraq.
