Panel discussion "The Constitutional Court of Jordan: Evaluating Ten Years of Service and Future Prospects"
The study analyzed the current significance of the Constitutional Court of Jordan, its influence on the rule of law in Jordan, and the extent of this influence over the past ten years. Further, it sought to investigate whether there has been a change in legislative trends and behaviors as well as major legislative decisions that have reflected the success (or failure) of the court in achieving its founding objectives.
The panel started with welcome speeches held by Prof. Zaid Eyadat, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies, University of Jordan and Mr. Philipp Bremer, Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Rule of Law Programme Middle East and North Africa,and was followed by the viewing of the discussion paper by Prof. Ziad Eyadat and Prof. Laith Nasraween.
Afterwards, Justice Dr. Adel Omar Sherif, First Deputy of the Supreme Constitutional Court of Egypt, and Professor Judge Mohammad Al-Ghazo, Former Judge at the Constitutional Court of Jordan and Former Dean of Several Law Faculties at Jordanian Universities, had a discussion.
The panel discussion was followed by Q&A session.
