Stakeholder Meeting 2022 with representatives of the KAS partner organisations
On 18 February 2022, the Regional Programme Political Dialogue West Africa (PDWA) of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) hosted a number of partner organisations for its annual greetings meeting in the garden of its premises at Cocody Lycée classique, Rue Flamboyants. Among the guests were the ambassadors of the Federal Republic of Germany, the State of Israel and the United Kingdom; representatives of local and national non-governmental organisations; members of parliament as well as Ivorian government ministers. In the garden of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Abidjan, the guests enjoyed the good weather, listened attentively to the speeches and engaged in lively discussions.
In her opening speech, Dr Stefanie Brinkel, Resident Representative and Director of the Regional Programme Political Dialogue West Africa (PDWA), emphasised the friendly relationship at eye level in the cooperation with the partner organisations. She recalled the upcoming 30-year anniversary of the PDWA, in September this year and concluded her speech with wishes for continued good cooperation and joint success in strengthening democratic structures in West Africa. Dr Brinkel was followed by Christian Barou, a member of the Centre for Political Research in Abidjan (CRPA), who gave a speech on the democratic deficits in the West African region. This was followed by a welcome address by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, HEM. Ingo Herbert. The drinks and snacks that followed allowed the guests to talk to each other in a convivial atmosphere and many interesting discussions were held; the event was accompanied by a mixture of jazz and Ivorian music.
