Syrian Academy for Non-Violent Political Change (SANC)
The courses in the academy offered Syrian activists a personal journey of leadership that started with self- empowerment (knowledge and skills) towards participation and engagement (actions and practices), which results in sustainable political activism that respects human rights, democracy and nonviolence.
The four courses raised awareness among participants on themes and empowered them to apply gained knowledge and skills by simulation and debate. Participants were encouraged to share their opinions with each other during the courses, and outside of the sessions. Each participant was also mentored through the process of writing a paper to apply their learning. Lastly, groups of participants were requested to design and implement political initiatives to transfer the learnings to others through dialogues, open spaces, exchanges of experiences and discussions.
