Speakers from Belarus, Germany, Lithuania and Poland will outline different aspects of the post-Crimea security environment for Belarus. They will examine inter alia the factors affecting the regional security environment in Central and Eastern Europe, deliver a comparative analysis of the concepts of national security of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, and speak on the evolution of Belarusian-Russian relations and their influence on Belarusian sovereignty.

Other issues will be NATO’s Readiness Action Plan, the Belarusian concept of creating a "zone of good-neighborliness", and contemporary issues of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.

After the panel, Konrad Adenauer Foundation invites the participants to a reception in order to celebrate 25 years of German reunification, which dates on October 3.

The International Congress of Belarusian Studies was founded at the meeting of Belarusian and Lithuanian scholars and experts on October 6, 2010 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Konrad Adenauer Foundation is one of the long-lasting partners of this event. The Congress’ mission is to promote a deeper understanding of Belarus in academic and civil communities of the country, the region, and the world. It aims to become a place for presentation of outcomes of scholarly and expert activities produced throughout the year. In addition, the Congress is an excellent opportunity to develop new research and community projects, to exchange views and ideas and to establish informal contacts.

The Congress combines traditional academic activities with expert panels and public discussions on topical issues of Belarusian politics, culture, society, regional and international cooperation.
