Concept

Peace and conflict are interesting and cross-cutting topics of discussion. They are pervasive and they affect different aspects of human life, be it political, economic, social or cultural aspect.

Young people are among the major category of human population who are affected positively or negatively by pervasiveness of peace and conflicts respectively. In many parts of the World, particularly in Great Lakes Region of Africa which include countries like Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

The disastrous effects of conflicts on young people in this region call for a serious intervention for curbing conflicts. One of the intervention mechanisms is training youth to be peace makers at their families, communities and any area of engagements.

The workshop on peacemaking and conflict resolution for youth is among the generous contributions made by KAS for empowering and encouraging youth people to take bold actions in peacemaking and conflict resolution among young people in the Lake Zone, Tanzania.

Objectives

* To increase awareness among youth on peacemaking and conflict resolution.

* To empower and inspire youth to be ambassadors of peace in their families, communities, and different walks of life.
