Neither Europe nor Germany have shown particular presence in East Asia regarding security policy issues so far. Many experts, however, recommend a much stronger engagement of the Europeans due to their economic interests in the region, especially because they can present NATO as a success model for security policy cooperation even with partners which have difficult bilateral relations with each other.

The conference analyses the different regional security orders in Asia and Europe and focuses on the common security issues in both regions. Finally, experts will develop a perspective for the cooperation between the Republic of Korea and NATO.
