The seventh consecutive local elections since the independence of the Republic of North Macedonia will be held on 17 October 2021. Mayors and councillors of 80 municipalities and the City of Skopje will be elected at the elections. There are a total of 299 candidates in these local elections and 10,635 candidates for councillors.

The handbook provides an overview of the 2021 local elections, as well as the history of the country's local elections, the electoral system and the participants in the electoral process.

After the elections, a second, updated edition of this Handbook will be prepared, which will include the results, as well as information about the campaign and the election process as a whole.
