The Fall of Labour

by Thomas Bernd Stehling
When Gordon Brown ended his first speech on 27 June 2007 as new Prime Minister with the words "Let the work of change begin", this was the attempt to distance himself from his predecessor Tony Blair who had lost popularity and penetrating power after 10 years in government. Today, not even a year later, this sentence bears new meaning (in German only).
