Brazilian Conference on Climate Change
Lecture
Details
The Brazilian Conference on Climate Change (CBMC) is an initiative launched by the Ethos Institute and co-organised by several non-governmental organisations, social movements, indigenous peoples, local governments and academics. Since 2019, the aim of this framework has been to enrich the national debate on global climate issues, discuss the content of policies and stimulate cross-sectoral dialogue. These include proposals on possible ways to ensure climate security, protect and maintain quality of life, and mechanisms to decarbonise the Brazilian economy to address the climate crisis. The main product of this year's conference is a declaration of commitment drafted by the co-organisers to be presented to the candidates in this year's elections.
In the run-up to the Recife event, discussions have already taken place on transversal issues such as education, justice and urbanisation. Registration is required for free participation in the hybrid event in Recife. The conference language is Portuguese.
