Elke Erlecke
Regional Commissioner for Eastern Municipal Policy
Throughout her career at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Elke Erlecke has worked with municipalities of varying sizes. In the early 1990s, she was active in Berlin, a rapidly expanding metropolis after reunification, followed by positions in medium-sized cities in Thuringia and Baden-Württemberg. In West Africa, she lived in cities on their way to becoming megacities, such as Abidjan in Côte d’Ivoire, and was also involved in projects with participants from rural communities in the Sahel region. After four years of establishing and heading a newly created Department of Educational Management in Berlin, she now contributes—during another developmental phase—to the regionalization of the Municipal Academy. In her role, she supports municipal policy work in Eastern Germany through personnel development initiatives and conceptual training programs for both professional and voluntary municipal policymakers.
