Since August 2020, Miriam Fischer is the Director of KAS Malaysia based in Kuala Lumpur. Mrs. Fischer has been working for KAS in Germany and abroad for more than ten years. She started in 2009 as Project Manager in the Multinational Development Dialogue of KAS in Brussels and subsequently, from 2012-2015, implemented an EU co-financed project strengthening and empowering indigenous peoples in the conflict-affected region ARMM in Mindanao for KAS Philippines. From 2016 until 2020, Mrs. Fischer was Policy Advisor for East Africa & the Rule of Law Programme in the Regional Department for Sub-Saharan Africa at KAS Headquarters in Berlin. She holds B.A. and M.A. degrees in European Studies from the universities of Bremen & Göttingen (Germany) and Uppsala (Sweden) and spent additional semesters abroad at the universities of Avignon (France) and Indianapolis (USA).
