Kulturminister Dr. Emad Abo Ghazy begrüßt die Teilnehmer der Konferenz zum Thema Religionsdialog.
Auch ein Repräsentant des Vatikan war unter den Vertretern der christlichen Kirchen in Ägypten, die - neben muslimischen Würdenträgern - die Konferenz eröffneten.
Ca. 140 Teilnehmer versammelten sich, um Fragen des interreligiösen Zusammenlebens in Ägypten zu diskutieren.
Mit Dr. Essam El Erian war auch ein Mitglied der Muslimbruderschaft vertreten.
Dr. Martin Affolderbach, Referent für Islam und Weltreligionen im Kirchenamt der EKD, Hannover, und Pfarrer Konrad Hahn, Islambeauftragter der Evangelische Kirche von Kurhessen-Waldeck, gehörten zu den eingeladenen deutschen Experten.
Im Anschluss an die Sitzungen wurden die Themen in Arbeitsgruppen weiter vertieft.

Zum Abschluss der Konferenz fasst Dr. Nadia Haliem, Soziologieprofessorin an der Kairo Universität, die Ergebnisse der Sitzungen und Arbeitsgruppen zusammen.
Aus ganz Ägypten waren Christen und Muslime unterschiedlichen Alters angereist, um gemeinsam eine Vision für das Zusammenleben der Religionsgemeinschaften in Ägypten zu entwickeln.
