MENA Leadership Academy III: Shaping the Digital Future

After 50 young civil society activists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) completed the first and second MENA Leadership Academies, the Regional Program South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) is now looking for the third generation of motivated and committed future leaders following the previous MENA LA participants.

We are living in an age of digital transformation that impacts all walks of life: from the economy to governance as well as social interaction. Digitalization, automation and Artificial Intelligence are the key drivers that are shaping countries and communities. While these developments pose challenges, they offer new opportunities at the same time. In a training with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the southern Mediterranean, the KAS seeks to raise awareness and to underline the importance of adjusting to the process of digital transformation in the MENA region and beyond.

25 selected participants from eight countries will follow a unique program cycle throughout 2020 and 2021 comprising a series of four trainings that accompany CSOs active in the digital sphere. The program will focus on individual skill trainings and theoretical underpinnings of the digital transformation process. The two-year program will be concluded with a study trip to Germany in which participants will get the opportunity to exchange with key stakeholders of the German digital sector.

Training Components
The training program will take place over a two-year period and will consist of the following components:

•        Civil Society Organizations in a Digital Space
•        Strengthening Awareness on Digital Rights
•        The Road Ahead: An Ethical Digital Future?
