Dry feet - the water in view

by Dr. Kathrin Menzel

The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg

Between canals, the Speicherstadt warehouse district and the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, the Friends of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation explore a city that is characterised as much by its history as by its waterways. The journey follows the traces of mission and trade, civic spirit and political culture - from Hammaburg Castle and the Hanseatic heritage to the Elbphilharmonie concert hall and current challenges to democracy. Hamburg presents itself as a lively estuary delta - of history, architecture, music and commitment.
