Dr. Beatrice Gorawantschy

Dr. Beatrice Gorawantschy has been Head of the European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Brussels since March 2024. She has more than three decades of international experience in political cooperation. After studying and completing a doctorate in political science at Saarland University, Dr. Gorawantschy began working for the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in 1992. Her first posting abroad took her to Ankara, Turkey, in 1993/94 as a project assistant. From 1995 to 1998, she headed the KAS country office in Manila, Philippines. She then worked at the foundation’s headquarters in Germany as desk officer for South Asia, Southeast Asia, Turkey, and Iran. In 2002, she assumed the leadership of the country office in Bangkok, Thailand, followed by a four-year term as Director of the office in Paris, France (2006–2009). From 2009 to 2012, she headed the country office in New Delhi, India. Subsequently, she became Director of the Asia and Pacific Department at the headquarters in Berlin (2012–2015). Beginning in 2015, she was responsible for the Regional Programme “Political Dialogue Asia and Pacific” based in Singapore. In 2017, she was entrusted with establishing the new Regional Programme Australia and the Pacific in Canberra, which she headed until June 2021. She then directed the foundation’s country office in Jerusalem, Israel, until early 2024.
