Dr. Céline-Agathe Caro

Since September 2024 Dr. Céline-Agathe Caro is Head of the Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division of KAS’ European and International Cooperation Department. Prior to this, she spent over five years in Asia, where she worked as Director of the KAS Office in Bangkok, Thailand (2020-2024) after a stay in Seoul, South Korea (2019). From 2016 to 2018, she was Senior Policy Analyst at the KAS Office in Washington. Between 2010 and 2015 she worked as Coordinator for European Policy at the foundation's headquarters in Berlin. In the Spring and Fall of 2013, she was also a visiting lecturer at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris and the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Lyon. Dr. Caro began her career in the KAS as a Research Fellow in its Paris office from 2007 to 2010, after gaining initial professional experience as an Assistant Professor at the University of Dresden where she taught French Studies and French-German history (2002-2007). She earned her PhD in 2009 from both the Sorbonne in Paris and TU Dresden, with a dissertation on the emergence of political ecology in Germany and France.
