Dr. Edmund Ratka

Dr. Edmund Ratka has served as a senior analyst for internal security and hybrid threats in the Analysis and Advisory Division since March 2026. Since 2014, he has worked in the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, first at the foreign office in Tunisia, then at the Foundation’s headquarters in Berlin, and most recently for five years as head of the KAS foreign office in Jordan. Before joining the KAS, Dr. Ratka worked as a research assistant and project coordinator at the Geschwister Scholl Institute for Political Science at LMU Munich and at the Chair of International Politics at the University of Passau. He studied political science in Munich and Aix-en-Provence and earned his doctorate on German policy toward the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
