Dr. Edmund Ratka
Policy Advisor European Security
Dr Edmund Ratka has been an adviser on European security in the Analysis and Advisory Department since September 2026. From March to September 2026, he was an adviser on internal security and hybrid threats. Since 2014, he has worked in the Middle East and North Africa Department of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, initially at the regional office in Tunisia, then at the Foundation’s headquarters in Berlin, and most recently for five years as Head of the KAS regional office in Jordan. Before joining the KAS, Mr Ratka worked as a research assistant and project coordinator at the Geschwister Scholl Institute for Political Science at LMU Munich and at the Chair of International Politics at the University of Passau. He studied political science in Munich and Aix-en-Provence and obtained his PhD on German policy towards the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
