Sebastian Grundberger

Sebastian Grundberger has been responsible for the Andean region as a consultant in the Latin America department since 1 January 2025. From 2020 to 2024, he headed the KAS regional programme Party Dialogue and Democracy in Latin America, based in Montevideo, Uruguay. From March 2017 to January 2020, he headed the Peru office based in Lima. Since 2011, he has worked for the United Nations, most recently as South America desk officer in the Political Affairs Department (DPA) of the UN Secretariat in New York. Prior to that, he worked for the UN peacekeeping mission in Côte d'Ivoire and in the DPA's Electoral Assistance Branch. Sebastian Grundberger gained further professional experience as a research assistant in the European Parliament and the German Bundestag, as well as at the Latin American Institute of the Free University of Berlin. He was also a research assistant at the KAS foreign offices in Madrid and Amman between 2007 and 2009. Sebastian Grundberger studied political science, Latin American history and American studies in Eichstätt and Valparaíso, Chile.
