Dr. Stefan Hofmann

Stefan Hofmann was born in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1965. After studying political science and sociology in Heidelberg and Hamburg, he went to the University of Salamanca in Spain for a research stay. After obtaining his doctorate in 1998 (University of Hamburg), he completed a newspaper traineeship at the Westfälischer Anzeiger in Hamm and worked as an editor for various newspapers in Germany and Spain. Hofmann joined the KAS in mid-2002. In 2003, he was assigned to the KAS in Mexico City, after which he became the foundation's country representative for Guatemala. Since December 2006, the father of two children has headed the Oldenburg Educational Centre of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and, from January 2011 to June 2025, was the KAS regional representative for Baden-Württemberg and head of the Political Education Forum Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart. After completing preparations for his assignment abroad, he has been head of the Romania country project based in Bucharest since October 2025.
