Dr. Stefanie Brinkel

Dr Stefanie Brinkel has been Head of the Political Dialogue West Africa (PDWA) regional programme based in Abidjan/Côte d'Ivoire since September 2021. Prior to this, she had been responsible for Central Africa, Nigeria, the Climate and Energy programmes and the special initiative ‘One World - No Hunger’ (EWoH) in the Sub-Saharan Africa department since October 2018. From May 2015 to September 2018, she worked in the Konrad Adenauer Foundation's international office in Tanzania. Dr Brinkel studied business administration at the Universities of Halle-Wittenberg and La Réunion and wrote her doctoral thesis on the phenomenon and consequences of climate change from a business perspective. She was a doctoral scholarship holder of the KAS scholarship programme for gifted students. From 2008 to 2014, Dr Brinkel was a research assistant at the Chair of Environmental Management at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. She also worked as a guest lecturer at the University of Economics in Bratislava.
