Tilmann Feltes
Country Director KAS Tanzania
Tilmann Feltes has been heading up the Tanzania country office based in Dar Es Salaam since April 2021. Before that he worked as policy advisor in the division for sub-Saharan Africa, in which context he also served as acting head of the Regional Programme on Energy Security and Climate Change for seven months. From 2015 until 2017 Tilmann Feltes was a trainee at the KAS country office South Africa.
After his studies in political sciences with focus in international relations in Freiburg, Bochum and Dundee he was a project assistant at the KAS partner organisation Democracy Development Programme (DDP) as well as a lecturer and PhD student at the Urban Futures Centre in Durban, South Africa. Here he graduated beginning 2021 with his PhD in Public Management (thesis on urbanisation in Africa). Further practical experience was gained at the Catholic Diocese Rottenburg-Stuttgart, the German Football League (DFL) as well as the Arnold-Bergstraesser-Institute, for which he conducted intensive fieldwork in the republic of Kosovo. In addition to this he worked on national and international projects of the GIZ as well as with the faith based organisation Fe y AlegrÃa in Venezuela.
