Over the course of two impactful days, KAS Media Africa had the privilege of joining journalists and media professionals from across Africa - and beyond, including participants from the USA, India, Serbia, Italy and Indonesia - at the “Religion Journalism Conference: Reporting Religion in Africa”. The event was hosted by The Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications, in partnership with our Media Programme and The International Association of Religion Journalists.
Religion is deeply intertwined with politics, education, identity, culture, and public discourse, shaping societies in profound ways. This conference emphasized the critical role media plays in how religion is reported and understood across the continent.
As a political foundation aligned with Germany’s Christian Democratic Union, KAS Media Africa was proud to support this timely and important gathering. Together with dedicated journalists, editors, and media scholars, we explored the challenges and opportunities in religion reporting, worked to challenge stereotypes, and advocated for fair, balanced, and empathetic storytelling.
We extend our gratitude to all the speakers and participants whose insights enriched the discussions. Special thanks to The Aga Khan University Graduate School of Media and Communications for hosting this vital event.
