Simon Engelkes has been Head of the International Office in Ramallah since February 2024. Previously, he worked as a consultant in the Middle East and North Africa department. Mr. Engelkes began his work at the Foundation in 2017 as a project coordinator in the regional program Political Dialogue Southern Mediterranean based in Tunis. Mr. Engelkes studied political science in Berlin and Beirut as well as terrorism research in London. He previously gained professional experience at Reporters Without Borders and the Federal Agency for Civic Education, among others.
