Dr. Susanne Conrad
Policy Advisor for Law / Security and for Anglophone West Africa
Dr. Susanne Conrad has been the country officer for Law & Security and Anglophone West Africa in the Sub-Saharan Africa Department of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) since 2021. Previously, she worked in the Brussels office of the KAS Multinational Development Dialogue, where she served in various roles since 2013, most recently as Senior Program Manager for Multilateralism and Security Policy. Her work focuses on security challenges in fragile and conflict-affected states on the African continent. This includes transnational threats such as Islamist terrorism and organized crime, external influence on security and defense structures, and the increasing use of private military companies. She is also committed to security sector reform and expanding access to justice, with the aim of better understanding conflicts, preventing them at an early stage, and achieving sustainable solutions. Dr. Conrad holds a doctorate in history, has a strong interest in philosophy, and a clear perspective on global interrelations.
