Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, former Minister-President and former Federal Minister, was elected as the new Chair of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation at today's general meeting.
Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer will take up her new position on 1 January 2026. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, who has held this honorary position since 1 January 2018. At the same time, the general meeting elected Norbert Lammert as honorary chairman of the foundation.
Prof. Dr Verena Blechinger-Talcott, Professor of Japanese Politics and Economics at the Free University of Berlin, Dr Tamara Zieschang, Minister of the Interior and Sport of Saxony-Anhalt, and former Federal Minister Hermann Gröhe were confirmed as deputy chairpersons. Dr Christoph Brand was confirmed as treasurer.
Newly elected to the Executive Board were Prof. Dr. Günter Krings, Deputy Chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag, Prof. Dr. Angelika Nußberger, Chair of Constitutional Law, International Law and Comparative Law at the University of Cologne, and Eva Maria Welskop-Deffaa, President of the German Caritas Association (previously co-opted).
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is an institution that operates worldwide. With its 95 offices abroad, it oversees projects in over 100 countries, while 18 political education forums and regional offices are active in Germany. It is based in Berlin and Sankt Augustin. Its tasks include providing political education, researching and documenting the historical development of the Christian Democratic movement, supporting European integration and international understanding, developing and providing political expertise, and promoting talented young people.
