Global Value Chains, Global Responsibility?

Sustainability in global value chains

Global value chains are important target areas for promoting sustainable development. This study shows how we can achieve better standards for sustainable global value chains.
Global value chains have become a formative element of the global economy. Besides many advantages, they however also cause challenges such as high pressure on wage costs and working conditions in both industrial and developing nations. The study highlights conflicting goals in efforts to reach sustainability in global value chains. And it gives five key recommendations for better regulations and standards for sustainable global value chains.
