Dorothea Kirmeß
Policy Advisor for Churches and Religious Communities
Since April 2025, Dorothea Kirmeß has been working as a Policy Advisor for Churches and Religious Communities at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Governmental Studies with a focus on Social Sciences and Religious Studies from the University of Erfurt, and a Master’s degree in Political Science and Religious Studies from the University of Göttingen. During a semester abroad, she studied “Religion – Economy – Politics” at the Universities of Lucerne and Zurich.She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the University of Lucerne on the topic of interest representation by religious communities toward the German Bundestag. From November 2022 to March 2025, she worked as a Research Associate in the German Bundestag. Between 2018 and 2019, she conducted a project at the Chair of Sociology of Religion at the University of Göttingen on the organization of religious diversity in schools, focusing on “Rooms of Silence.” From 2015 to 2017, she worked on a research project on migrant congregations at the same chair. Dorothea Kirmeß has been supported by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Evangelisches Studienwerk Villigst.
