Within the scope of its possibilities, Albania supported Ukraine with humanitarian aid. As a current non-permanent member of the Security Council, Albania also plays an important role in the United Nations' condemnation of Russian aggression. Even though Albania is not directly affected by the conflict, there are concerns among both politicians and the population about higher energy and living costs. In addition, an alleged espionage case in the summer of 2022 caused a stir. The article reviews the past twelve month of Albania´s political course within the new international situation then takes a closer look on the internal consequences of the war and finally gives an outlook on further developments.
